Manuel Fortes, MD

Board Certified Radiologist, Interventional Neuroradiology

Board Certified in Neuroradiology and Neurointerventional Surgery, Dr. Fortes has been advancing the field of interventional neuroradiology since 2010. He obtained his Medical Degree from the Fundacao Tecnico Educational Souza Marques School of Medicine in Brazil in 2004. His journey into specialized medicine began with an internship in internal medicine, followed by a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the prestigious Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Fortes completed a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, focusing on arterial and vascular disease processes.

Dr. Fortes further honed his skills by pursuing a combined three-year Neuroradiology/Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Shock Trauma. This intense program at one of the busiest trauma centers in the U.S. equipped him with critical expertise in managing complex vascular diseases of the brain in acutely ill patients.

Currently, Dr. Fortes specializes in treating brain aneurysms, performing stroke thrombectomies, and interpreting neuro radiological images. His skills extend to managing spinal diseases using techniques like kyphoplasty and RF ablation for treating vertebral compression fractures and bone metastases.

In 2013, Dr. Fortes achieved full board certification from the American Board of Radiology, and in 2021, he received certification in Neurointerventional Surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He maintains a senior membership in the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS) and is actively involved in advancing his field through both practice and education.

Dr. Fortes’ career is marked by a passion for patient care, technical excellence, and continuous learning, making him a distinguished figure in the spheres of Neuroradiology and Neurointerventional Surgery.
